The University's Central Gender Equality Commission (ZGK) has been in existence since 1989. There are three persons from each of the status groups represented on it: professors, academic staff, support services, administrative staff and students. They are elected to office for 2 years – students for 1 year – on the recommendation of the representatives of the status groups in the Senate. The commission deals with issues relevant to gender equality across the University. It reviews compliance with and updates to the Gender Equality Strategy and Implementation Plan and the Gender Equality Plans of the faculties, institutions, central administrative departments, and is involved in the internal allocation of funds and advises the University’s Gender Equality Officer. The meetings of the Central Equal Opportunities Commission are open to the public and any input is most welcome.
